Intermedia Fotoficient

Implementation

Not just another web server

Intermedia Fotoficient is a full blown web server, optimized for image content. But nevertheless in a modern web server architecture, it just sits behind a reverse proxy or rewrite-engine and tugs into a distinguished namespace within the servers URIs.

Intermedia uses designated connectors (and corresponding id namespaces) to span and mingle content from different sources, such as local files, ftp served photos or graphical ressources from a different webserver. It therefore is a perfect candidate for a simple and distributed cloud solution to keep load and exposure from a central image repository. Its ID namespace (optional to use) hides the real ressource from the external observer and protects your original source or repository.

And because all image transcodings are performed on the fly and instantaneously, there's a vast variety of possible javascript add-ons to be made, that make use of the endless possibilities you get, when images become fluid.

And who cares for those little screens?

Designing a website for mobile computers, usually boils down to choose different templates for expected screen sizes. But that means to compromise the number of templates against the most prevalent screen resolutions. Fill the remaining screen estate with a nice border and off you go.

But when images no longer need to be put into fixed size drawers, nothing stops you from using modern frameworks and designs that cater to just about every screen size or window setting.

Add galleries with one simple tag

Intermedia Fotoficient has a unique new way of handling sets of large amounts of images. That makes it not only easy to add an interactive photo gallery to your own pages, but also to share these galleries with others. The integrated Bootloader framework provides a standardized environment for creating, configuring and designing interactive galleries or other visual widgets to any web page.
